Staff at Summit County take direction from County Council. In 2012 they selected a vision statement to guide the County, within that document sustainability is seen in the Preservation Value which states, "Preserve our land, water, culture and agricultural heritage." And further in Core Areas saying, "Environmental stewardship that ensures a positive future for our water, land and air quality."
Multiple Sustainability Plans have been the guiding documents since 2011. These plans focus on County operations and how to best reduce our Carbon footprint. Renewable energy, creating a more efficient County fleet, switching out lights to LEDS and weatherizing buildings are all some of the current changes taking place.
