Environmental Health Scientist

Summit County is currently recruiting for a full time Environmental Health Scientist. Performs a variety of full performance professional, complex technical duties related to the monitoring, inspection and regulating county-wide environmental conditions and influences to assure compliance with state, federal and local environmental quality laws, regulations and guidelines. Experience working in regulatory food programs conducting compliance inspections and restaurant plan reviews is highly desirable for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Environmental Health Scientist III:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in environmental health, public health, health physics, biological science or other related fields. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience performing above or (and) equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a registered Environmental Health Scientist.

Environmental Health Scientist II:

Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing above or related duties; or (and) equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a registered Environmental Health Scientist.

Environmental Health Scientist I:

No experience necessary. Must have graduated from an accredited institution with a Bachelor’s degree and have at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in the major sciences. Must become a registered Environmental Health Scientist within 18 months from date of hire.

Salary Range:

Environmental Health Scientist III: $27.34 - $38.28/hr

Environmental Health Scientist II: $25.79 - $36.12/hr
 
Environmental Health Scientist I: $21.23 - $29.74/hr
